So. I just love living where there is an abundance of fresh fruit! I've had to restrain myself this year, as I'm not really in a position (ha!) to take full advantage of nature's bounty. There are u-pick orchards and farms for cherries, peaches, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, marrionberries...and that's just what's been in season so far!
I did get to pick strawberries with the kids...I've got to find the pictures and post about that! I'm not allowing myself to the orchards at present...my balance on a ladder would be less than graceful. =) But I have overloaded on peaches-I made two pies last week. Guess who doesn't eat peach pie at my house? If you guessed three out of the four residents, you're correct!! I sent one to work with Scott, and ate one myself. (Hey, if I'm going to be gaining weight anyway, might as well enjoy it, right?!) Soooo delicious!
Some friends were going to pick blueberries, and while I couldn't go, they very generously picked a few pounds for me. We're talking ten pounds! (I seriously need an extra freezer, which Scott refuses to acquire until we have our own home. Men! We're currently using a little side-by-side fridge/freezer--not the room I crave.) Anyway. These were the biggest, fattest, bluest berries I'd seen. The taste of fresh fruit just picked is incredible! They were growing on a vine that morning and in my freezer that night. I'm dreaming of blueberry pie, muffins, and pancakes... but once again, these berries are all to myself. Sweet A might help a little. The boys probably won't. There's no accounting for some people's children's taste!
Anyway. I'm super excited for next year...and more berries!

Unfortunately we have to rely on the grocery store for all of our berries. I too am loving the fact that they are so readily available. Emmy just devours the blueberries I put in front of her, along with everything else for that matter.
I'm sick with jealousy...sick I tell you!! This is my first year of mobility capabilities and there's no berries for me!!!
I'm going to put myself in the corner before I have a real tantrum.
SICK I TELL YOU!!
;)
I love blueberries. Lucky you!
As far as the memory comment goes, one of my favorite memories of you is when you made your yummy blue rolls for my baby shower. I also loved that you had sooooo many talents and never bragged about yourself. I always loved your humility and example.
Good luck with #3!
You need to talk Scott into the extra freezer! We got one before #2 and it is so nice to have to stock up on freezer meals, Trader Joe's (when we go by one we have a freezer bag to bring home our favorite items), and berries. I stock piled a few bags of blackberries last year and freezer jam. It's been such a good investment, b/c we'll always need an extra freezer. Come on, Scott! ; )
i'll come live with ya'll for a while if it means fresh fruit and a whole peach pie to myself. seriously, yum! i know about the fruit thing. those anderson boys just dont go for it. i have learned to just buy it in small quantities.
One of my best memories of living in Oregon came from going to this little old lady's farm and picking and eating tons of marionberries. I was in love with those! I am glad you got to enjoy the lovliness of the Oregon farmers.
