So, I was catching up with friends blogs and ran across this on Allison's. I couldn't resist the challenge, since I used to type for many former jobs, and actually had to take a test before being hired at the university. I'm pleased to say that my typing speed has improved. (and not bad on a laptop keyboard) Although, it also usually improves each time you test... Perhaps it's just because a mom has to get more done in less time... hmm....

Sick of being sick
I am so tired of being sick.
I know I'm not the only one.
And I know I don't have it as bad as some people.
But I am still tired of it.
It's not even the dire sick, confined to bed, too weak to function sick. It's the lingering, never going away, constant changing spring weather sort of sick. We cycle through with runny noses, stuffed noses, sore throats, racking coughs, achy bodies and heads (thankfully not much of the stomach bug, I'm not good with vomit) and just when we're done, someone gets something again. S got a major sinus infection Sunday, which I picked up on Monday, and the kids have been up all night coughing. Needless to say we're not getting sleep, we're eating poorly (I sure don't want to cook!) and we're all cranky. It's worse when I don't feel well (breathing well is really important to me) because mommy doesn't get to take a "sick day" to rest and get better. I'm not sure if I'm complaining, or trying to justify the empty refrigerator (I don't want to go shopping) and cluttered house (I sure don't want to clean!). Perhaps both. I know we're not going to die from this, but I'd sure like to be all healthy again. (side note: we rubbed the kids chests and feet with menthol vapor rub (socks over the feet) and it seemed to help them sleep better--it's worked the best so far!)

Daylight Savings
Enough time has passed so that this sounds really funny. But first, some background.
Saturday night we were up late watching a movie, Stardust (which I really enjoyed, btw). S wasn't feeling well Sunday morning--he never even got out of bed. So, the task of getting the children ready, and the lesson for Primary fell to me. (Now, this is a difficult feat on a Sunday, I'm not sure why, but I never seem to quite get it all together...perhaps because young children don't get the concept of time and "hurry-up!") I actually managed to get them up, dressed, fed, the lesson reviewed, myself ready (with curled hair!) and we were out the door at a respectable time. The parking lot was quiet when we arrived, the lobby was too, and I could hear a speaker. In the back of my mind I wondered why the hymn wasn't being sung. I marched my little brood into a spare pew and sat down. The whole congregation was there, calm and quiet. Where was the hymn?
Uhm, yeah.
Then it hit me. We'd never set our clocks back before we went to bed.
S usually reminds me of these things, and he was so sick...and I was so busy getting everyone ready that it had slipped my mind. So, I arrived for the last five minutes of the meeting. I sure wish my wisdom had kicked in before I had marched into the chapel. I could have waited five minutes in the lobby just fine. Sheesh.
Something like this usually happens to me around daylight savings time. I think I need to live in Arizona, where that's not a problem!!

Sundae Sweet
Okay. I've not been blogging because of my projects. And I'm not blogging my projects here, but at my project site. That's simply so you don't get bored with my projects, and so I can keep them all together for personal reference. (I'm protecting y'all and being selfish at the same time.) So. If you want to see what I've been up to this time, check here.
Now I have to face that list of things I have to get done...like buy milk and bread, clean the toilets, deposit the paycheck at the bank....=)

catch up
I received my apron from the swap, and I love it! But I blogged about it here.
I've realized that Easter is fast approaching us, and I've got a few projects to complete before then, namely a dress for A. Now, I've tried to shop for one. But they are mostly all sleeveless. I am finding this especially true as she is transitioning from "baby girls" into "big girls". Yes, she's on the border of 5T and 6T (although she could wear a 3T around, she needs the length, since she's all leg right now). I can't go sleeveless with her, either. She doesn't like wearing a shirt underneath, and she won't want to go back to wearing sleeves. It's an all or nothing policy right now. I'm going for the nothing. I just know she'll fight with me on it if I change, so I can't. So, I'm making a dress for her. The only trick is, I have to use a pattern I already posess, and fabric already in my stash. Last year I made a white linen dress (with a square neckline which doesn't work well with the skinny of torso.) so this year it's either pink, blue, or lime green. I'll keep you posted. I'm thinking of making C a little vest to match. Hmm...we'll see. I also have a great idea for my sister, but I can't write more until it's finished. And I have a few baby blanket gifts to complete. I'm going to be sewing up a frenzy here in the next little while.
I'd like to squeeze out a skirt for me too...since last Sunday I tried to defend the children from S's tickling and in my haste to escape his pinching fingers ripped my denim skirt from zipper to knee. Yeah, beyond salvage. A girl just can't survive without a denim skirt. It's a wardrobe staple. And you have to find just the right skirt to replace it. This is not always possible with available selection at stores. So, I begin my quest for the perfect denim skirt, which is even more elusive than the perfect denim jeans. (an upcoming vent, er, post)
Anyway. A few projects and projections from my world. We'll see how it turns out.
