Over the Moon

...yeah, there's been alot going on lately. This was supposed to be the April 1, announcement, but we were traveling. And then moving. And we're still unpacking. But I didn't want to shock y'all with pictures of a new infant. Who would believe? So, I'm letting you know a few months ahead.

We're super excited.

I'm super hormonal and disgusted by my former maternity clothes. (How did I manage all those years ago...and why in the heck did I save them?!?) Must have seemed like a good idea at the time. Crazy.

Here's to roundness and choosing the perfect name! =)

sick of the jukebox

okay. I've tried to change the jukebox settings. But I can't remember the password, and I can't seem to get a new email to reset it. I'm experience technical trauma. Personally, I mute the computer every time I pull up my blog. I don't know how y'all have managed this long.

So, for now, I'll delete it.

**okay, changed my mind about the deleting. I've found the music for "My Old Kentucky Home" in honor of the 134th Annual "Run for the Roses" (aka the Kentucky Derby) being held this weekend, May 3. All y'all in Kentucky, eat some Derby Pie for me!!

Pre-Excused Absence

So. I may be absent for the rest of the month. I'm just putting out the word ahead of time. Why? (You ask)

We're moving.

Yeah. This time we're not moving across the country, we're just moving across town. (Sometimes I think it'd be easier to move across the country-you know everything has to be packed up tight) No, we haven't bought a house. We're "house-sitting" for a year and a half while a couple in our ward is on a mission. Hopefully this will enable us to get into a house next year. This is a challenge for me, as about half of our stuff will go into storage, since the house is partially furnished, and we're also "downsizing" to 2 bedrooms from 3. So, this week is the sorting of Necessary vs. Storage.

For those of you who know me and my coping with stress mechanisms...I've read four books in the last week and a half and baked two batches of cinnamon rolls. The sewing machine is already packed, so that temptation is removed. Now I have to be serious and get to work....I'll let you know how it turns out!

South Pacific

Tuesday (because of the injury) I tried to settle the kids down by watching a movie. What better movie than South Pacific? I loved this show when I was a child, (I think I had a crush on Lt. Joe Cable), and hadn't gotten around to watching it while S was gone last week. So we watched it together.

Yeah...not a kid show. But they did really well, even if C was annoyed with all the songs and they, esp. A, had a million and one questions. They insisted on finishing the entire movie, even with multiple interruptions. Try explaining "There Ain't Nothin' Like A Dame" to a 3 and 5 year old. "Yeah, they're sad because they don't have any girls to talk to." ?!? It's a classic, right?

"Popcorn"

So. Tuesday I get out of the shower to be met by screaming children. Turns out they were playing a game of "popcorn" (which consists of the children sitting on the end of the queen bed and then throwing themselves backwards to land at the other end of the bed. I think the goal is to cover as much distance as possible.) Anyhow. They both "popped" at the same time, and C landed on A's face. He must have hit dead center, because her nose was bloody, her mouth was bloody and her lips were bloody. Oh, yeah, and she was looking at herself in the mirror and screaming/crying. I engaged damage control and managed to get most of the blood out of the way to assess the damage. Her teeth cut her bottom lip pretty good, it was swelling beautifully, and her loose tooth was even more loose. On top her two front teeth were loose and the gums above bruised purple. I left her sucking on a cold washcloth and called S. He tried not to laugh too much as I explained the trauma and how it happened, and agreed that A shouldn't go to school. Keeping her down after the first two hours wasn't easy. And she lost her bottom tooth that afternoon. (She's actually excited to be loosing the top two faster now!)

I love my children's imaginations and creative play, I just don't like the blood and injuries that have resulted. Welcome to the next 20 years, eh?

Welcome Spring!

I'm so dang excited I can hardly stand it. I'm trying to ignore the frost on the ground this morning and instead focus on the neighbors daffodils. Lovely buttery yellow blossoms. *Sigh* I love spring.

Now, for my long blogging absence. I only have these excuses: I was rushing madly to figure out/finish A's Easter dress (as seen in the pictures to the side), pack and straighten the house so we (the children and I) could leave to UT for a week for spring break, and S took the computer (yes, physically removed from the house) for the week prior. I've just returned from spending a week at my in-laws without my husband. My own lovely parents are on a mission to Nauvoo (details later), and while I love my in-laws, I have discovered a few things:
1) after 3-5 days guests and fish both stink. Seriously. I have only about 5 days of pleasant "niceness" in me, before I feel like I'm not on vacation anymore. I must relocate every five days (or less). If you want to come visit, plan on 4 days. That way we will still be friends when you leave. =)
2) traveling with the kids and no husband stinks worse than old fish. I need daddy to be a buffer with the kids, and the kids need daddy to be a buffer with mommy.
3) mommy is not a jungle-gym. the kids need rough-house time that mommy can't provide as well as daddy.
4) C knows how to push my buttons very, very, very well. I don't like PDA's (public displays of affection) and I like PDD's (Public Displays of Discipline) even less. Needless to say, I was responsible for a few of those last week.
5) seeing family is alot of fun. I like re-connecting, then I don't feel like I live quite so far away.

anyway. enough for now. I still have suitcases to unpack. And the kids have pulled out every toy they own...just to make sure they're still there, I suppose...
