Tent vs. Sausage

Who designs maternity clothes anyway?!?

I don't want to look like a circus tent or a breakfast sausage. Those seem to be my current choices. Are those models even pregnant? Who keeps the same hips and bust and only grows in the belly?

I went the rounds with my old clothes...I cannot believe how high the waists are on those pants!! The pockets were in the least flattering spot possible--my waist. (How did we do it, people?!) The shirt fabric is soooo heavy.

Anyway. I'll bust out the sewing machine and see what I can come up with.

Cinco de Mayo

I know I'm a little late with this post, but better late than never.

Last Monday my sweetheart came home with a dozen red roses for me!

(I was thinking of that commercial where the guy says that he "thought about it" when his girl asks if he remembers what the day is...)

The kids were real excited to see the flowers and asked why?

Scott replied, "Because 8 years ago your mom agreed to marry me."

Awwh! He remembered the night when he proposed, and he had roses for me then too. It was such a sweet, unexpected, thoughtful time to bring flowers. They've made me so happy all week!

(Yeah, they lasted through Mother's Day (convenient) and he commented on how much more flower you can get for your buck when it's not Valentine's Day (not his favorite)... Still, the romance was there...more than just a thinking about it!)

Boy or Girl?

Yes, folks, this is the week where we find the gender of our wee bundle of joy. Provided, of course, that Jr. cooperates! Gone are the days of waiting for 9 months to find out. Just to make things fun, I've posted a poll on the side for your best estimated guess.

A few things to keep in mind: We waited for birth to find out with our first baby--girl, we used the ultrasound to find out with the second baby--boy. There are 3 new baby girls on my side of the family already this year. Both of the kids want a baby sister.

Happy guessing. I'll let y'all know next Sunday the results!

(Thanks for all your comments and well wishes!)

Over the Moon

...yeah, there's been alot going on lately. This was supposed to be the April 1, announcement, but we were traveling. And then moving. And we're still unpacking. But I didn't want to shock y'all with pictures of a new infant. Who would believe? So, I'm letting you know a few months ahead.

We're super excited.

I'm super hormonal and disgusted by my former maternity clothes. (How did I manage all those years ago...and why in the heck did I save them?!?) Must have seemed like a good idea at the time. Crazy.

Here's to roundness and choosing the perfect name! =)

sick of the jukebox

okay. I've tried to change the jukebox settings. But I can't remember the password, and I can't seem to get a new email to reset it. I'm experience technical trauma. Personally, I mute the computer every time I pull up my blog. I don't know how y'all have managed this long.

So, for now, I'll delete it.

**okay, changed my mind about the deleting. I've found the music for "My Old Kentucky Home" in honor of the 134th Annual "Run for the Roses" (aka the Kentucky Derby) being held this weekend, May 3. All y'all in Kentucky, eat some Derby Pie for me!!

Pre-Excused Absence

So. I may be absent for the rest of the month. I'm just putting out the word ahead of time. Why? (You ask)

We're moving.

Yeah. This time we're not moving across the country, we're just moving across town. (Sometimes I think it'd be easier to move across the country-you know everything has to be packed up tight) No, we haven't bought a house. We're "house-sitting" for a year and a half while a couple in our ward is on a mission. Hopefully this will enable us to get into a house next year. This is a challenge for me, as about half of our stuff will go into storage, since the house is partially furnished, and we're also "downsizing" to 2 bedrooms from 3. So, this week is the sorting of Necessary vs. Storage.

For those of you who know me and my coping with stress mechanisms...I've read four books in the last week and a half and baked two batches of cinnamon rolls. The sewing machine is already packed, so that temptation is removed. Now I have to be serious and get to work....I'll let you know how it turns out!

South Pacific

Tuesday (because of the injury) I tried to settle the kids down by watching a movie. What better movie than South Pacific? I loved this show when I was a child, (I think I had a crush on Lt. Joe Cable), and hadn't gotten around to watching it while S was gone last week. So we watched it together.

Yeah...not a kid show. But they did really well, even if C was annoyed with all the songs and they, esp. A, had a million and one questions. They insisted on finishing the entire movie, even with multiple interruptions. Try explaining "There Ain't Nothin' Like A Dame" to a 3 and 5 year old. "Yeah, they're sad because they don't have any girls to talk to." ?!? It's a classic, right?
